Welcome Parents/Guardians
Expanding from our survey in 2024 and GenFree pact in 2025, this year, our school is thrilled to be part of the Agree to Agree Project!
Over the next three years, our whole school community—students, parents, and staff—will team up to build healthier, happier online habits. With support from the Department of Education and Youth Oide Technology in Education and guidance from Dr. Maureen Griffin, we’re excited to create a positive digital culture that helps our children thrive.
What the Agree to Agree Project is all about:
- Over the next three years, we’ll be collaborating as a school community to create a positive, forward-thinking plan that supports everyone.
- This exciting initiative brings our whole school community together, partnering with parents and pupils to help shape healthy, positive online habits. Our goal is to create a new, supportive norm around children’s digital lives—one that boosts their wellbeing and gives you, as parents, the confidence and guidance you deserve.
- The Agree to Agree Project helps bring school and home even closer together. Through a simple, shared agreement process, we aim to make sure that when students go online—whether they’re in school or at home—they’re supported, protected, and given every chance to learn and grow. Together, we’re creating a safe, supervised digital space where children can enjoy technology in positive, healthy ways.
Why Are We Doing This?
We know that parents can often feel caught in the middle. You want your child to fit in, but keeping up with online trends can feel overwhelming—especially when “pester power” kicks in. The Agree to Agree Project helps our whole school community work together to focus on what children need, rather than what they want, when it comes to technology.
The Challenges
During her workshops, Dr. Griffin highlighted some of the real issues facing children today, including:
- Overexposure to age-inappropriate content
- Anxiety, low self-esteem, and reduced resilience
- Sleep loss linked to late-night screen use
As Dr. Griffin reminded us, once troubling content is seen, it can’t be unseen—and even when children know something is wrong, they may still struggle to disengage.
Shaping a New Normal
To keep children safe, internet-enabled devices need:
- Strong safeguards
- Clear rules
- Consistent boundaries
How does this help you?
- This project is supported by a series of fun, hands-on workshops that give pupils, parents, and the whole school team the skills and tools they need to create an agreement that truly fits their school community
- We’re keeping our school website regularly updated under the Parents tab with helpful resources, parent-friendly tips, and links to trusted sites—supporting all of us as we navigate this fast-changing digital world together.
This project is a true team effort involving staff, students, and now parents. Together, we’re building a healthier, safer digital culture for every child in our school community.

Very soon, we will be uploading links and helpful tips for parents and guardians to the school website under a dedicated Agree to Agree heading. You’ll also find updates and feedback on our notice board, located at the school office, throughout the course of the project.
We look forward to working with you as we build a new digital norm for the young people in our lives.
At the heart of every agreement is the voice of the pupils, reminding us of the importance of the principle:
“Nothing about us without us.”
Kind regards
The Agree to Agree Team.
